Continuing Education

Continuing Education instruction is designed to support the economic and cultural development of the community and its citizens. Courses are built upon the concept of lifelong learning and are offered at a variety of times and locationsIf you are interested in enhancing your skills, or starting a new career path, Continuing Education can help. Non-credit courses and training increase knowledge and skills while boosting job productivity and career potential. Traditional credits are not earned toward a degree, but you may earn CEUs (continuing education units), certifications and licensure within various professional education programs. 

Pre-registration for all classes is required. Many courses have limited seating so you are encouraged to register early by calling 304-896-7434. 

Personal and Community Enrichment

Southern offers workshops and classes designed to support the cultural, civic, intellectual and personal enrichment of the community and its citizens. Courses are built upon the concept of lifelong learning and are offered at a variety of times and locations. Traditional credits are not earned toward a degree, but you may earn CEUs (continuing education units) and certificates of completion.

Financial Assistance (HEAPS)

The West Virginia Higher Education Adult Part-time Student (HEAPS) Grant is available to assist individuals with funding for Workforce and CareerTraining in the state of West Virginia. The grant program is available depending upon the type of training being sought as well as specific student eligibility criteria. For more information, call 304.896.7434 or e-mail Sandra Podunavac.

Customized Employer Training

Southern’s Workforce Development Department is committed to providing business and industry training opportunities to help train today’s worker. Through partnerships with business and industry, Southern can provide job-specific or customized training to employers in our service district.
